Zinedine Zidane was born on the 23rd of June in 1972. Including Zizou, his Algerian parents had five children in total. School was not his specialty, so he turned to football. By the age of 16, a scout by the name of Jean Varraud recruited him to Cannes. One year later, Zidane made his debut in the French First Division. The midfielder was later signed by Bordeaux where he started winning important matches.

Zidane, won the Golden Ball as the most valuable player of World Cup 1998. Zidane played his first professional First Division game for Cannes in 1991 and quickly rose through the professional ranks. He sealed his reputation by scoring two goals for France in the World Cup finals of 1998, helping France defeat Brazil and claim its first World Cup.
